I composed this image using a variety of flotsam that I found on this remote section of the Californian coast. A car tire lay perched in the iceplant, which just so happened to be in bloom. Nearby I discovered a soda bottle that had been blown apart by the waves. The snout of the bottle was intact, but the remaining plastic below it had been shredded and worn into a shape reminiscent of a flower. I crammed the “bottle-blossom” into a tear in the sidewall of the car tire, and captured images of all of these strange invading flowers together, selectively lighting the scene with flashlight. What poppycock.
