At the same beach where I captured the image jacob’s ladder, I returned a few years later to encounter a refreshed selection of flotsam along the shore, this time in the form of car tires.  I chose a prize specimen and stood it up along the near shore (the tide was higher this time), weighting it with rocks and sand so that it would withstand periodic waves blasts coming from two sides of the arch’s entrance.  This time, just for kicks, I used a red gel filter over my flashlight to selectively light the tire, and let the ambient light do the rest of the magic.  Turned out that the red filter, along with a lot of help from mother nature, created a keeper.
