I had the great fortune of being the trip photographer on an expedition to Greenland and Baffin Island (thanks, Bill!). I had never seen an iceberg before. I started to see them as nature's sculptures. This one was the most beautiful I saw on the whole trip. There are two kinds of icebergs, ones formed by glaciers that calve into the sea, and the others by sea ice. This is the former - and the blue lines are called "melt lines," where water flows into cracks in the glacier and then refreeze.
