​This was the first photo collage I ever made that I thought was a "keeper."  The ocean scene in the background was taken in Madeira, Portugal, and seemed to speak of the same peaceful tranquility that I saw in the face of this man I photographed in Guatemala, who was seated next to this pay phone.  I always loved the way Central Americans use the word "tranquilo."
