​These black birds come around every fall in Chile by the millions.  I still haven't figured out what kind they are, but they are pretty clumsy when it comes to waves.  They will land in the middle of the line-up sometimes, and then get cleaned up by a set, and some of them wash all the way to the beach.  At other times I have had them get in my way as I've been riding a wave, and had to swerve to avoid them.  Better than actual crowds, though.
